Continuity Video

I think this is a good continuity test as the shots that are used are good however i think that in this continuity test we could have used better shots. such as extreme close ups when the girl is backed up into the corner. i also think that there could have been more of a variety of different shots used to show that we had the skills as well as this means that we could have experimented more. However i think that the shots that we did use where done with the level of skill needed. However if we did this continuity exercise again then i think that we could have used better shots than what we did.

Sixth sense analysis

This trailer is effective in a variety of different ways; one of these is that when the screen starts to flash and the music sounds like a heart beat, then your heart starts to beat at the same rate as the flashing and the sound. The trailer uses dramatic dramatic music and special effects to cause tension for the viewer, by making the screen flash more and the music to speed up when there is something interesting or different about to happen. This then makes you tense and puts you on the edge of your seat.

The opening shot of the trailer tells you that you are in America as the Mise en scene shows you a police car in which says 'dial 911'. Also in this opening shot, also from the mise en scene, you can tell that in the film there is going to be a link with the emergency services. In the trailer for this movie you hear the voices of the star's before you see them, this then makes you think about who they are and you listen to what they are actually saying more than if you see them straight away when it gets to the car scene they use an other the shoulder shot so that you can see coles facial expressions clearly. Also in this trailer it gives away what people think is the main story line of the film this then makes you want to watch it more as you want to now if that is the whole story line or not. This therefore makes you feel as if you are in con trol because you now the secret and no one else does this feeling is produced by the mise en scene of that particular scene this is because they use camera angles so that it looks as if Cole is looking directly at you they use a close up on his face. This is shown in the trailer as it is made to give enough away but not too much.the opening shot of this trailer is of cole telling his mum that the women in the car accident has died and that she is standing next to his car window, they then go from that to a page where it tells you who the production team is. this then makes you want to know more so you will keep whatching and keeps your atention. It then goes to short clip's of a variety of scenes in which all have the main charecter cole in them who is played by  Haley Joel Osment.

The poster of sixth sense does not give away but what it does give away helps you to tell the genre of the film. this is also given away by the fact that it actually says that it is a thriller on the poster. The poster has a colour pallet this colour pallet is dark and describing colours. what i mean by this is that the colours give away the type of film in which it is going to be. when i first saw this poster the first thing that came to my head was fire, horror and devastating things will happen. The other thing that i have noticed now that i have seen the film and found out what the story line is then you can see on the poster that Cole is breathing out a cloud of air this is used in the film to represent when a ghost is by that person. As on the poster there is the child psychologist as well this kind of gives away that the child psychologist is a ghost, you would not see this on first look of the poster you would also not notice this if you had not seen the film. You could also say this about the fact that there is a light shinning other the child psychologist this could be represented as the tradition of a light shinning other a person when they die as people always say walk towards the light. This could be said as the light is shinning other the child psychologist and there is a shadow other half of Cole's face. It is as if the camera angles of the characters is trying to tell you that Cole is observing this happening, i.e. the child psychologist Finlay walking towards the light.

North by North West Analysis

North By Northwest - Title Sequence, Musical Score. Watch more top selected videos about: North by Northwest, Alfred Hitchcock

North by North West By Alfred Hitchcock Analysis

At the start of the title sequence there is lines moving across the screen these lines are coming from the top and the bottom of the screen when the line fill the screen it make it look like a grid, there is then the text that comes from the top and the bottom of the frame again, this text ends up in the center of the screen and then dominates it from the gridded background. this way of doing the opening sequence if very common in thriller films as it is a good devise to use. When the name of the film comes on the screen the N in the name has got an arrow pointing in the Direction of north on the frame.

After this the grid on the screen then turns into a highly mirrored sky scrapper, this then reveals that the setting for this film is going to be New York you can tell this from the yellow cabs and traffic going by. this then goes on for a couple of seconds well more co stars names move up or down the frame. this is just like what was going on when the lines looked like a grid.

This screen is then zoomed in and dissolved this means that you can see two things in the Highly Mirrored building one of these was a long shot of the people in the area also in this view it can tell you where and when it is.

After this you then move on to a scene which was a creative geography scene. This scene shows you the front of a building this is the building in which we believe we saw in the scene before. This then moves on to a sub station we Can tell that it is rush hour by the amount of people that are around, from this scene you can also tell that it is not from this century as all of the women are wearing hats and gloves. you can also tell that it is a hot time of year as then is a man in the background who is in just a shirt which shows that it is summer. It then moves on to two women fighting over a cab the angle of the shot makes you feel tense.

The sounds in this scene is of a high scurrying flute you also have the sound of brass instruments in the background competing with the flutes. These sounds make you feel nervous.

Opening Sequence Analysis of Se7en

The opening sequence for Se7en has a variety of different sounds used some of these are talking, the beat of a drum and musical instrument, rewinding of a tape, static noises, Radio transmissions, Towards the end of the opening sequence the music gets both louder and faster this gives you the impression that something is going to happen. Therefore this puts the audience on the edge of their seats. During this opening sequence there is also is also chain saw noises, artificial screams and scraping of a black board, whistle noises. They also have a women singing in what seems like a choir this is then made really high pitched and played in the background all the way through the opening sequence. This opening sequence really plays on your emotions, one of the ways that it dose this is by having the beat going from really fast to slow. this therefore gets your heart beating that bit faster. As well as the music that is used there is also emphasis on words such as pregnant and intercourse, this gives you the impression that this is going to be part of the story line of the film. To follow this impression that this is going to be a theme in the the film there is also things used that are linked to the 7 seven deadly sins, the main one that it emphasis is the deadly sin lust. This can therefore be linked to the words pregnant and intercourse. The related things where forgiving/forgiven, God, Se7en, C24, B35.
